Composing A 1000 Word Literature Response Essay On Macbeth

To write about a famous play can be a real trouble, especially if you are talking about a piece so famous like Macbeth. All your colleagues know this tragedy and they will judge any paragraph you write. This is why you have to pay more attention than usual and to not get distracted by anything else. For a literature response essay, you have to know the main points of the tragedy in order to be able to follow any requirement. Keep these ideas in mind:

  • The play is inspired by a real person. Even if most of Shakespeare’s pieces are pure invention, this one in particular was written after a plot that took place when the author was alive. However, other people think that the play was inspired by a King of Scotland that the author admired. Either way, there is no doubt that there is a little bit of truth behind this story.
  • Many actors seem to think that the play is cursed. No, this is not a joke. No actor will mention the name of this play, but he will refer to it using a certain expression. Even so, this piece is well known all over the world, and it was adapted to opera, books, cartoons, movies and so on.
  • This is the shortest play that the author ever wrote, but one of the most controversial ones. The action starts after a general finds out from a trio of witches that he will be a king. Because of his desire of power, he decides to murder the actual king and take the throne. A story about arrogance and death, the new king becomes evil and he does not hesitate to murder others in order to keep his power. Everything around him becomes suspicious, and he does not trust anyone except himself.
  • It is believed to be a tragedy of morals. During the play, you will notice that the actions of the king cause more and more tragedies. People around him start to copy his behavior and they become mean, aggressive and suspicious. The society is changing and it is ruled by fear of death. This is a clear example on how a single bad person can change the morals of an entire community without even talking to anyone; if the supreme power is evil, everything around it will be evil.
